Gloucestershire Programmes

1. Gloucestershire v Devon 1957
Gloucestershire 8 (try - Base, con - Cripps, Dropped Goal - Holder)
Devon 6(2 penalty Goals - Blackmore)

My father was a Devonian and he took me to Kingsholm to see his team play Gloucestershire. I was 8 years old. Devon were the reigning County Champions having beaten Yorkshire in the fnal the previous March at Plymouth. My father would have left disappointed as Gordon Cripps' conversion of Terry Base's last minute try won the game for Gloucestershire.

2. Devon v Gloucestershire (Group Match) 1972
Devon 18 1 try - (?), 4PG 1 con - Pearn
Gloucesershire 18 (try - Knight, 4PG 1 con - Butler)

3. South West Group Play-Off 1972

Gloucestershire 22 (2 tries - Morley, 4PG 1 con - Butler)
Devon 19 (tries - Staddon, Warmington, 3PG 1 con - Pearn)

interesting to note that 6 of the Gloucestershire pack were England internationals. Of the two uncapped forwards, Cowling would later get 14 England caps and more recently has served as Assistant Coach to Cornish Pirates, whilst Smith had already had England trials in 1964-65 and 1966-67. Mike Rafter in the Devon pack would later play for Bristol and England.
